Out of all the super cars 2009 is to see, the Mclaren F1’s successor will have to be the most anticipated. The whole world has been waiting to see who fills the shoes of the greatest car of the last century. Every single F1 fan has been following its development through years and this week Mclaren finally flags it off. The previously code named P11 is now officially name MP4-12C which is the name of Mclaren’s 1997 formula1 car.

It’s not just the name which is from Formula1; most of the technology behind the MP4-12C comes from Formula1. The idea behind developing Mclaren F1’s successor was not to increase power but to reduce weight. We agree since increasing power doesn’t make any sense in this bankruptcy driven world. So to make it lighter even the MP4-12C’s chassis is built in carbon fiber and it is made of a single piece (which looks like a tub), unlike its competitors like Ferrari and Lamborghini. Mclaren claims that the whole car is entirely build in-house.

12C’s outer body design is debatable, some say it looks like a Saleen S7 me myself feel that it looks like a Ascari Kz1 but the fact of the matter is , all these cars had in their design, the original Mclaren F1 and 12C being its sibling couldn’t help the looks. Design wise it will not be a revolution but since it’s a Mclaren it will definitely be more exciting than anything else on road.
