Bandra-Kurla complex, Mumbai saw the 4th edition of Autocar Performance Show this month. For starters Autocar Performance Show is shaping up to be India’s best motor show for high-performance products since its first year 2006. This year was a bit of a through back from last year but there were some which I found interesting like the Mahindra modified Xylo, Laura RS, new land Cruiser. The car which stole the show was car with a price tag of 88lakhs The Jag XKR. The show also saw the JCB diesel geeky rocket car which has a top speed of 563kmph.

Tata can take a break from its Jaguar financing problems and relax since its latest XF model is doing some sound sales in UK. At the end of July it sold 5653 units, which is 600 units more than the sales of A6. Jaguar despite not offering an estate version (unlike A6) of the XF managed this number.

“We’ve been working on residuals and keen pricing and equipment levels and that’s continuing to work for us,” says Jaguar. Since Jaguar doesn’t offer an estate or 4-cylinder diesel model, it recons it operates only in about 30% of the executive market.

BMW 5-series is the most favorite executive car in the UK with sales of 7,900, followed by E-class which sold 5,700 units. The XF stands third, but the introduction of a 4-cylinder diesel and an estate variant, it will over throw the Germans in no time.

The XF is sold in India for 63Lakh since it’s a CBU. The price of the 5-series in India is 37 Lakh since it’s not a CBU, so yet another great car spoiled for us by our Government’s CBU taxing.
