vw polo
During the inauguration VW’s second Chennai outlet Neeraj Garg, director (passenger cars) of Volkswagen Group India confirmed the following:

• The small hatchback Polo is on track for 2010 launch
• The beetle to be launched through CBU route.
• Number of VW showrooms in India to be increased from 22 to 40 by the end of the calendar year.

Currently VW is assembling its two sedans Passat and Jetta in its subsidiary concern Skoda’s plant in Aurangabad and also VW is importing its SUV Touareg as a CBU. Volkswagen India has recently established a facility at Chakan in Pune, with a capacity to manufacture 110,000 cars annually. This is where Skoda started its Fabia production and it would be used for the production of VW’s future models including the Polo.

VW’s is also looking into importing its high-end luxury sedan Phaeton and SUV Tiguan in the near future. But the most promising is the launch of its small car up, which when launched will be placed as the entry level VW in India.
