Porsche’s new 4-door sedan will be launched in India on the 1st of October. The Panamera comes in 3 variants namely S, 4S and turbo. According to Precision cars India, the importers of Porsche cars in India, the Panamera range will start from Rs. 1.42Crores for the base version Panamera S, 1.47crores for the 4S version and 2.02 crores for the Panamera turbo.

The Panamera S has a 4.8L V8 which produces 400bhp in the case of the base S version. The S version has a top speed of 283kmph and will hit 100kmph in 5 seconds. The top end turbo variant has 100 more horse power. Forget all this the best thing about this car is the way you change gears in manual mode.

The gear shifting is unique in the Panamera, the main disadvantage so for in case of paddle shifters is that you have to have both your hands on the steering wheel , Porsche has managed a way around this with its unique design. The steering wheel has two buttons on the either sides for shifting up, you just press it with your thumb and for shifting down there are two paddles behind the steering wheel on both sides so u just pull it with the index finger.

The interior is different from the other porches and quite elegantly designed keeping a perfect balance between the feel of sportiness and luxury. Steering wheels looks clean and clever. Porsche doesn’t make much money with the 1.42 crores price tag it’s the options list where it does.

Options List:

RS Spyder Design wheels: Rs. 2,04,000
Amethyst Metallic paint: Rs2,05,440
18-way Adaptive Sport Seats with Memory including leather interior: Rs.4,49,280
Park Assist with Rearview Camera: Rs. 82,080
Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) including Rear Differential Lock: Rs. 2,91,840
Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB): Rs. 5,33,280
Adaptive Air Suspension: Rs. 1,30,896
Sport Exhaust System: Rs. 1.92,960
Adaptive Cruise Control: Rs. 1,63,200
Refrigerator in Rear: Rs. 1,56,240
Burmester® High-End Surround Sound-System: Rs. 3,72,000
Bluetooth: Rs. 45,600

That’s 45 grand for Bluetooth; figure out the rest for yourself.
Some might think its work it since it’s a Porsche but let’s call spade a spade, the car is pathetic looking. however the ones with the money for it doesn’t have an eye for it and so Porsche has managed to pre-book 13 customers and targets a sales of 50 cars per annum. Good luck Porsche selling the ugly duckling!
