lotus f1 car

Lotus is one of the most successful teams in formula1 history. It has won 7 constructor’s championship back in the days. It’s the fourth most successful F1 team ever behind Ferrari, Williams and Mclaren who has won 15, 9 and 8 constructor’s championship respectively.

Lotus is currently owned by a Malaysian car maker, Proton. Proton tried to acquire the BMW-Sauber team but failed. This new team will be registered as a new team and will be headquartered in a purpose-built facility at Malaysia’s Sepang International circuit.

FIA’s regulation allows only 13 teams to enter 2010 championship. Lotus is currently listed as the 14th team, which means it will get the slot only if a team quits. Meanwhile FIA is working changing the regulation to include Lotus.
