Toyota has woken up finally and realized the market potential for small cars in India. It is planning to up the game with a launch of a brand new small car by 2011. This car will not have much in common with Toyota’s existing small cars and it will be designed exclusively for India.

This new small car is code named 800L and it will be on the likes of Tata’s indigo Cs and Swift dzire. Toyota is keenly looking to give this small car a diesel and make it more tempting for the Indian masses. The 800L will also have a petrol variant. First Toyota will launch a sedan version followed by a hatchback.

As a part of the production plan, Toyota recently inaugurated its second plant in Bangalore. The new plant will be ready for production in 2010. It will be capable of an annual production of 100,000 units. It will be producing 3 different models most of which will be the 800L.

Toyota India will be exporting these cars to similar markets all around the world. India has always loved Toyota and a one which will cost less, we say bring em on!
